Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu’s wife speaks on whereabouts of her husband

Wife of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Uchechi, has spoken out on the whereabouts of her husband. Ucheche, who is based in London has maintained that her husband is in the custody of the Nigerian Army. Insisting that she is not aware of Kanu’s whereabouts, Uchechi told BBC Igbo that she is not also aware if her husband was dead or alive. She stated that the last time she spoke with Kanu was when soldiers invaded his residence in Umuahia, Abia State last year. Uchechi said, “The IPOB people are not sleeping. British Prime Minister, Theresa May, has called for same-sex marriages in Nigeria and all other Commonwealth Nations. The Prime Minister said this on Tuesday while speaking at the first joint forum at Commonwealth Head of Government Meetings in Westminster. According to her, there should be no laws criminalising same-sex relationships across the Commonwealth. Release the corpse of Nnadi Kalu for burial family told Federal Government

Family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has asked the Federal Government to release the corpse of their son for burial. The family said it believed that Kanu was killed by the Nigerian military, in an attempt to quell the agitation for Biafra. The family spokesman, Emma Kanu, told Wapsim247 that the federal government should release Nnamdi’s corpse to them so as to give him a befitting burial. Emma said ever since the IPOB leader disappeared last year, when his home was raided by the military, the family had always feared for his life. “Now that it has been reported that he is dead, the federal government should, without hesitation release his corpse to his family, so that we and the entire Igbo nation can give him the befitting burial he deserves because he is a true Igbo son,” he said. Nanny ‘burns child’s buttocks with stove fire’(see full details)

A nanny, Fatimah Yakubu, who allegedly burnt an eight-year-old girl’s buttocks on a stove, was Monday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. Yakubu, 37, of No. 15, Ologolo Street, Lekki Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of assault occasioning grievous harm before Mr B. I. Bakare. Prosecuting Sergeant Friday Mameh told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence last Tuesday, at about 11am, at her residence. Mameh said: “The defendant grievously harmed the eight-year-old girl by burning her buttocks with a burning stove which caused her bodily harm”. The offence, Mameh added, is contrary to Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Yakubu pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Bakare granted him N500, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum. The case continues on May 5.

Man, 27 the commit suicide over football betting

A 27 year old man has reportedly committed suicide in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. The deceased allegedly took his live by hanging himself on a ceiling fan in his apartment. He was said to have lost out in a betting over the outcome of a European Champion League match. The incident was said to have occurred in Oko- Erin area of the town after the return leg match between FC Barcelona of Spain and AS Roma of Italy played in Italy. He was said to have bet that Barcelona who were leading by 4-1 in the first leg played at Nou Camp, Spain would maintain lead at end of the return leg and b through to the semi-final of the championship.
